TOPIC: Dixie Newton, NC?

Dixie Newton, NC? 11 years 6 months ago #77932

Anyone heard of a Dixie 14' boat made in North Carolina?

Found a lightweight 14' fiberglass fishing boat made by Dixie of Newton, NC (according to bow and transom corner aluminum castings). Looks like a 1973, according to hull number. Lapstrake V hull; 14' 4" LOA; 55" beam. Hull only weighs 210lb, if I'm reading the old USCG transom sticker correctly. Rated for 25HP outboard.

Has faded original side stickers "Dixie Boats", showing a jumping fish. I googled, but seems most Dixie brand boats were made in Florida.

I wanted a light fiberglass lake fishing boat to tow with my '85 Westfalia. This is perfect, though old and in need of some restoration. Looking forward to the project. My only previous boat resto experience is old 'glass sailboats. I joined this forum to learn about fixing small 'glass outboard boats.
