TOPIC: Tee Nee winch (safety?)

Tee Nee winch (safety?) 9 years 5 months ago #112585

Came across this old bulletin from Tee Nee that suggests the winch stand be through bolted. Of all the Tee Nees I've seen, I don't recall ever seeing this. However several of them I've owned have shown signs of the winch stand moving. Also have talked to a few guys that have had it move in transit. So here's what I did. Through bolted with a 5/16" SS bolt. Not really aesthetically pleasing, but better than the alternative. Also put a safety chain from the frame to the bow eye ( cause I just don't trust the winch).
Anyway, just some food for thought!

Cheers and safe trailering!

Bill

Better safe than sorry, looks like a good fix Bill.

That is such a neat news bulletin you shared.
I was considering running for couple of bolts through there and then I saw your post. My winch stand is getting pretty rough. I would like to replace it with a regular one, but it's not in the budget. I am probably going to try to beef up this one. Last summer mine began sliding along the tongue so through bolts will be a must.
