TOPIC: 1959 Gator 565 restomod almost done

After 13 years out from under the boat, it's almost done.
Sandblasted the 1/4" of undercoating off
powder coated
tongue extended 2'
new fenders
LED lights
6 new rim/tires in 6.00x9
new winch
Stoltz rollers
Stainless fasteners/ roller shafts

I even picked up tags for it. A little damage getting the boat off the blocks, but easily fixed. I need to figure out where to mount the spares, but I couldn't do that until the boat was back on.

Now the big job starts.

Have you got enough tongue weight?

I have not taken it out on the road loaded yet, but it should be ok. I extended/ straightened the tongue because I didn't like the way the transom was supported. If I notice any sway I can adjust the axles back or shift the boat forward.

I don't want to total how much it cost to redo, I hired a local shop to work on it so I could keep working on honey-do projects around the house. Now that she is mobile again I can rearrange the back yard to build a carport for her.

The trailer looks wonderful. When l looked at the picture it lloked to me like a lot of boat was behind the trunion. I do know the axles are adjustable. If I remember correctly I think you want at least seven percent of the trailer weight on the ball with a maximum of around twenty percent on the ball. My limited experience is that gators pull nice. Great job on the first part of your project if my trailer looks half as good as yours I will be happy.

It was worse before, the trailer is for 20-22' boats and the Cruise Liner is 23'. I extended the tongue two feet so there would be more space between the coupler and the winch tower and still get more support under the transom.
