TOPIC: new springs and mounting pieces installed.

went up to Franks yesterday and we installed new springs on the boat trailer. it took about all day due to the cutting and grinding of the old mounts and the installation of the new mounts and shackle holders. also had to drill (upside down) new holes in the bottom frame of the trailer. frank's son Greg handled that chore with ease by using his foot like a jack against the drill. trailer towed nice on the trip home. clunking noise is gone and no fishtailing at all. with the new springs the tires are now completely visible. the fenders are about 4" above the tires. with the added height i now will be able to back the trailer in and out with the motor in the down position. in the past i would have to get wet up to my thighs to raise the motor when pulling out. Next is my trailer. I still need to repair damage from that tire that blew out, and have paint in places to touch up. I don't know whether to just get new fenders or try and fix the old one. It was already in tough shape. Also, I hope soon to be upgrading it with brakes and new 15" tires to replace the 14" ones that have been on it. good thing I enjoy doing this stuff eh?
