TOPIC: Painting a steel trailer

I need to re-do the trailer from my Custom Craft. It is the original Trailcar trailer that came with the boat. There are no structural problems, just some surface rust. I re-did an old Sea King trailer (which is for sale - cheap) several years back using Trailercoat and an enamel paint over it. That trailer was sanded, not sandblasted, as I plan to do this time. The result was reasonably good. However, this time I want to bring the trailer back to look as good as the boat.

What is everyone's thoughts about painting, once it is sandblasted? What kind of base primer and what about a top coat? I plan to keep the same mustard-color finish (spicy brown, not yellow goop) that is on there.

I want to do as much as I can myself, however, I don't have a spraying set-up and am not going to go down that path being asthmatic. Any input would be appreciated.

Rustoleum works great on sandblasted steel. You can brush a primer on, then whatever color you're going to use. You need to sand to maybe 220 after you've got enough primer on, then after every two coats to eliminate the brush marks, but you can wet sand to 1200 or 1500 when you're done and polish it up. It will look fantastic.

What do the Tee Nee guys (don't go there) use for paint? I want a mustard yellow to try to match what I have and the Tee Nee yellow seems close. Rustoleum only has a very bright yellow.
