Anyone know where I can get a transom bracket like this?

I suppose I can get one made but if I can find one already made it would be easier. The trailer is an '65 AJAX made in Detorit Michigan. I think the company is still in business but don't believe they make this stuff anymore. Also may not have been something of theirs, could have been aftermarket. May have also been made by my grandfather for all I know. Just wondered if anyone has seen these before and know if there are any floating around somewhere for purchase. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bob

I bought a set on E-bay that was listed as a " Cantilever transom bracket " I have seen a few others on my daily surf. If I see another I will send the link.

I'm pretty sure I have a pair of those (or very similar) out in the garage, Bob. These had ropes (rotted and disintegrating) with "S" hooks on the bottom, but could easily be converted to the chain with springs. That's a much better set-up, IMO. I have to search for some other stuff for a Glastron buddy this weekend, if I can find 'em I'll give you a shout.

No problem, it's cool. Actually it looks Like Rick's brackets aren't going to work for him after all so I may just get them, unless yours are closer to what my original one is.

Glad they are what you were looking for - wish I could have made them work on the Falls Flyer but that narrow Transom and the big fins got in the way ? Nice to put them in a good home !

My pleasure , glad I could help out ! Now I have to find something for mine . They are really short and I can't find ratchets that short. I would like to find something that is period correct. Any ideas out there ?

Not sure if they're exactly "period correct" Rick, but I bought a pair of these New KevLok Transom Tie Downs from Joe at Ferguson Poole. They come in different colors, and look closer to what might have been used back in the day than what's on the market now.
www.fergusonpoolemarine.com/trailerpartshitches.html

New KevLok Transom Tie Downs @ $16.99 (bagged as a pair)

Available in Black, Gray, or Red

Clear Vinyl Buckle Plate and Dipped "S" Hook help to protect boat finish from marring.

We tried quite a few brands of transom tie downs, and we strongly feel that these are the best.

Thanks for the link Mark ! Never seen that company, lots of interesting items. I ordered a set in red and saved it in my favorites . They look vintage enough.

Here's another set of those hold downs if anybody is interested? Watch out for the shipping - I think for $25.00 they are going to walk them over to your house for you . They look like a nice set ?

Boy I like those but I'd have to tie down to my bunks. They would handle it since all the bolts are grade 8. I could move the eye for the tiedowns easy enough.
