TOPIC: What brand of trailer is this?

This horrid, crappy trailer is paired with the professionally restored 1941 Falls Flyer. Odd bed-fellows, I know, but for the 1 mile trip to the boat launch, it isn't that important. However, some time I might want to go to a show farther away. I better think about a coat of paint at least.

Can some one here tell me who made this trailer? It looks like it should be yellow. It also has some cool features like tilt, and a rear bunkers that can be moved into position by rotating the rear cross member with a handle on the passenger side.









Just as a side note, my dads rare, 16' Falls Flyer he had back in the 1940's, came on a trailer made of 2 oak 3x6s with springs and a hitch bolted on. I wonder how the DMV would feel about a wood trailer? Hmmmmmmmmmm

But please paint it before you put that beautiful boat on it!!!!

jepstr, looks like my old gator trailer. they are a nice trailer. mine was a round tube alao. i still have the gator hub caps with the scrip on them. frog

There is a round sticker on the back of one fender. It was painted over so I don't know if it is an original name brand sticker or a smiley face sticker from the 70's, but it is round.

I think I'll have the whole thing powder coated. We have a place that zinc plates hardware. Should be more in tune with the boat after that. Although the world's crappiest trailer, would be a conversation piece under that Falls Flyer. LOL

Frog....are you looking to part with those hubcaps?

Anybody have a crank for that winch? Looks like a vice grip or pipe wrench was the crank of choice used by the previous owner. With a wood boat, I generally don't use the winch. Rollers and wood boats and not a good combination. Wood boats like to float on and off.

think i'll keep them, maybe getting another gator soon.

I agree with Frog. It's definitely a Gator. Looks like a metal plate was made to fit within the winch stand. The base of your winch stand looks like the Gator originals from around '56. The only different I see in comparison to mine is that your fenders do not have the side half moon panels. Yours could be older than my '56. That's my guess

I think the older round tubular yellow Gators would look fabulous under a Falls Flyer.

I agree it should be good with the old Flyer. Once it stops looking like some salvage from the beach at Normandy that is.

Todd, if you are looking at your trailer from behind, the stamp should be on the right side before the main frame starts to turn. Let us know. It will be interesting to see what model and year your trailer actually is. Thanks.
