TOPIC: 1958 TeeNee Question

1958 TeeNee Question 14 years 6 months ago #9380

I just purchased an unmolested 1958 TeeNee . I believe the model is the OB 70A (A frame type). It was used for a 16 ft Thompson since new. I will use it for a Feather Craft Vagabond (14.5ft.)It looks like this model TeeNee was made to adjust the axle and sway bars forward 16". I'm wondering if this more forward position would be correct for my smaller craft. Can the tongue be shortened as well? Thanks. John

In general the smaller the motor the more forward the axle. It is a matter of balance. You want tongue weight so it travels well. I got mine with near perfect tongue weight with no motor. When I put the motor on it could be lifted with one finger and once the tongue got 2 feet high it would tip up. Great for getting water out of the boat but that is about it.
