TOPIC: a BIG woody boat

Here's one BIG woody boat! These are glued laminated white oak frames for a US Navy AMS minesweeper built in 1952. The picture is at Peshtigo, WI where the frames were laminated. In the background is the lumber shed of Thompson Bros. Boat Mfg. Co., neighbor to the laminator

And thus it was that the Axis forces launched a program to develop a NEW weapon - the Ter-mine-ite. In the end it was a losing idea - they never could work out the bugs!
