TOPIC: 1957 Bowman 15' runabout

Good Morning Gentleman !!! Not sure this classifies as a wooden boat but I am hoping someone may know the answer to my question. This boat has a fiberglass hull but transom and all the rest is wood. The transom is teak wood but I am not sure what the ply is on the bow. I think it is Spanish cedar. Anyone happen to know in 57' what bowman used on there decks ? All the wood is in grate shape but one spot on the port bow. Thank You for reading. Gary

Gary, post some pics if you can. The boat in my avatar is the same way, glass hull, ply transom with glass on the outside, ply bow and Mahogany windshield frames and bench seat. The plywood on mine is Mahogany marine ply. I'd need to see some pics of the bow to tell. I don't know much about the Bowman's.

My guess is that your transom is not teak but most likely Philippine mahogany. Most likely other varnished wood is Philippine mahogany.

I will try to get some pictures this evening if I have enough light after work. It very well could be the Philippine mahogany. Once I strip the old varnish it will be easier to tell. Thank You !!!

Up Date on 57 Bowman. Wood rework almost done. Coming out grate. My Son has it almost ready for varnish. Ready to paint trailer. On the down hill slid from here. Gary
