TOPIC: boating in Madison, WI last Friday

boating in Madison, WI last Friday 8 years 4 months ago #125391

Fun photo of boating in Madison, WI last Friday as part of the classic boat show and cruise. This is a 1964 T & T Boats, Inc. 18 foot Breakers plywood lapstrake boat. My dad got her in 1965 at the liquidation auction when T & T went belly up. Three generations of our family have used the boat since 1965.

There were some great non-wood boats at the cruise and show.

I need to put that one on next year's calendar. Looks like fun, and love the story as well!

BTW - I did not find those fat fifty chrome exhaust pieces as Tomahawk, but I did look. I will have to keep my eyes open over the next year.

If anyone has more Madison pictures, it would be great to see.

The Madison event is fun. Boating all day on Friday on the lakes and Yahara River. Any and all classic watercraft invited. There was a real good showing of classic glass and a couple of tin boats at the show.

Thanks for looking for the fake exhaust ports.

The facebook page of "boat buds" and the "Madison Area Antique Classic Boat Show" has photos of this and past events.

There is another classic boat show in Southern Wisconsin on 20 August at Pewaukee. On 13 August there is a show at Sturgeon Bay, WI.

I will look up those pictures. I need to plan a 2017 calendar so that I keep options open. I had forgotten about Sturgeon Bay...and I am sure Cal will be there. Hmmm.

Sorry to hear about the prop Bill. Seems there is always someone willing to help. Maybe so much speed the hub started to melt.

Enjoy Pewaukee. I will have to wait until next year as I am picking up and delivering a boat for a friend.

Looks like I have a year to fix and polish.

Going to Sturgeon Bay on Friday, it's a 2 day event. Lots of fun and entertainment with the build a boat challenge and main street shut down to party.

Cal,

I might be up in DC this week to play with the Mustang and do some fishing. it is still not in "show" shape, but it is fun to play with. If I have the time I will head into town to steal one of your beers!!! Or I could bring some of yours from the fridge.

Now that I am done with my tests I am going to work on polishing up the Mustang and getting the rest of the aesthetics done to it. I will then focus on popping the top on the GT-150 so it is ready for winter. We need to look at the Triton now too. I need to make sure the transom is good for the Merc 850 - especially if I put on some 1000 carbs!!
