TOPIC: Help identify a boat

Hey all,

I was hoping you might help me identify a recent purchase I made. I happened to be searching craigslist and came across this little wood boat. I called the guy and after some banter on the phone i made the 2.5 hour trip to pick her up. The little information that the seller had is as follows:
- It was raced in the early 1950's by an Italian man
- He was unsure if it was home-built or bought as a kit, but mentioned that the man he had bought it from called it a "firefly"
- It apparently sat for many years untouched before being partially restored by the owner prior to who i bought the boat from

From what i can tell, if the boat was home-built, whoever built it had a lot of skill. It is very well done and not thrown together. Another interesting aspect of the boat is the stepped hull. It is all wood and has a 6" step in the bottom of the hull, where the after end of the keel is completely flat. It has the remains of a very old external cable steering set-up but is not complete. Overall the boat measures about 14'-9".

Does this thing look familiar to anyone? Any insight is appreciated

I don't know anything about it, but it is a great looking boat.
