My 14' woody runabout has a 35 on it with all the horses I need for the lake. But when I cruise the rivers here in Florida like the silver, rainbow, itchnatucky etc it seems like overkill as it barely gets off idle and sucks a lot of gas. From experience in the group could I get away with a 10, 15 18 horse and cruise the rivers ok or is that too small? According to the Sears catalog boat weighs 260 lbs without motor. If I stick with an OMC of similar era swapping steering and cables is real easy.

Thank you

Bob, have to agree with your choice. The 18 would be perfect. Nice size, light and all the fittings are a match. That is one workhorse of a motor.

I know I am late to the party but have you joined the Florida Chapter of the Antique Outboard on some of our cruises? We normally display and cruise each Month and in your area as well.
Lots of avenues to find that engine you are looking for.
