TOPIC: Tollycraft Rumpus question

Tollycraft Rumpus question 3 years 6 months ago #144835

So... I picked up what i was told was a 1958 Tollycraft Rumpus. I am not sure of the year, but the Scott outboard is a 1958 60hp (which seems too much power for this boat). I need to find the manufacturer plate so i can get the hull identification number- any ideas where to look?

HIN's weren't required until 1972. It very well may not have one.

so i found out this boat is a 1957... i am in the process of scraping off the old paint to get to the mahogany veneer. I found the lower rear stern of the boat appears to have been painted in gold-ish paint... i assume it must have looked simillar to the photo here... anyone have color photos of this model boat?

I think back then the wrong year happened a lot on the registration. I think they went with the year that it was sold new. I have a 1959 Thompson that is registered as a 1962. The motor that was on it was a 1963 Merc. I found no evidence that any other motor was ever on it. That being said, I think it sat at a dealership until 1962 or 63 when it was sold as new.

I am sure that has happened...however based on the b/w foto and the 1970's registration info that i found, i expect that date to be pretty accurate.
