TOPIC: Interesting find during Sea Mac stripping

Interesting find during Sea Mac stripping 14 years 1 month ago #20163

Hi guys!

I've just started stripping the paint off my 14' 1958 Sea Mac. I've chosen to do it using a heat gun instead of chemical strippers. While working on the back of the boat I found:

On the port side: A sticker from "Riverside Marine Boats, Billerica MA" that was pasted over a small Sea Mac logo sticker. Riverside painted over the Sea Mac logo in a light blue, then put their sticker over the Sea Mac sticker. The Sea Mac logo say's "Camden, NJ which is one of Sea Mac's earlier locations.

On the port side: A sticker from "Riverside Marine Boats, Billerica MA" that was pasted over a large Sea Mac logo sticker. Riverside painted over the Sea Mac logo in a light blue, then put their sticker over the Sea Mac sticker.

What's odd about this is that the two Sea Mac logo's are different, on the same boat and basically on the same layer of paint.

Does anyone have a clue why? I'm so glad I didn't use chemicals, I would have never found this!

Another stripping find. The boat's name was at one time Joan 3 and the spray rail was varnished like Daryl Weedeman's. It's beginning to look like this is a 57 model - not 58.

I'd bet the 3 was part of a reg or fleet number

Peter,

You may be on to something. Someone painted over the SeaMac logos and stuck a Riverside Boats (Billerica, MA) sticker over the new paint job and on the dashboard. We thought that maybe she was a part of a rental fleet.

Now that I think I've got this photo thing figured out, here's a photo of that too.

This weekend I am sanding down the rest of the paint and hoping to start reefing her out for some fresh 5200. The little girl takes on a bit of water right now. Nothing that's not fixable though.

greeting all!

This is what I got done last weekend. This weekend I will be reefing seams for some CPES and 5200. The paint I ordered from Kirby came in this week. I CAN'T WAIT to open the cans!

She's VERY close to being finished! Just some wiring and trailer work - then we're off to the lake.
