Drove 4hours round trip tonight to survey a boat. What a disaster. Such a great old wood boat, stored improperly, and it's destroyed. Owner wondering why it will cost so much to restore. Lets see; new ribs, new planks, new deck, new stem, new keelson, new transom, new deck caulk, and on and on.

On Craig's list next week with a listing saying "just a little cosmetic paint work and it will be good as new."

Nope, Penn Yan. Trailer is shot. Squirrel/mouse nest in the main steel has rotted the metal nearly through. Everything is fixable as I told the owner, but for what it would cost me to repair it he could buy two just like it ready to run.
